Biography
In his more than twenty years with the US Department of State, Mr. Bezner has served in the Sudan, Japan (twice), Washington, Turkey, Laos and China. During his sole assignment to the Department in 1990-1991, he served as Desk Officer in the Office of Freely Associated States Affairs where he was the country officer for the Federated States of Micronesia. During that period he spent several months in Micronesia, and visited the RMI, the FSM and Palau.
Mr. Bezner is a Management Officer, but has also served as a Vice Consul, a Commercial Officer and an Interfunctional Officer. In addition to English he speaks Spanish, Japanese, Chinese and Turkish. He holds an M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies.
He is married to Kuniko Yasuda, originally of Japan, and has no children.
Among Mr. Bezner and Ms. Yasuda’s many interests are traveling, music, cooking, hiking and birding. In addition, Ms. Yasuda studied Traditional Chinese Medicine during their four-year stay in Beijing. Since arriving in Palau, Mr. Bezner and Ms. Yasuda have also become avid boaters, and enjoy fishing and scuba diving.
